Maligne pleuramesothelioom
Maligne pleuramesothelioom is een agressieve tumor van de pleura, vrijwel altijd geassocieerd met asbestblootstelling. De mediane overleving bedraagt 12-18 maanden. De toevoeging van nivolumab plus ipilimumab als eerstelijnsbehandeling (CheckMate 743) was de eerste overlevingsverbetering in decennia.

- Meest voorkomend mesothelioomsubtype (~60%), betere prognose dan sarcomatoïd of bifasisch.
Behandeling en prognose
Eerstelijnsbehandeling
Nivolumab plus ipilimumab is de standaard bij niet-epitheloïd mesothelioom en bij epitheloïd subtype (CheckMate 743). Cisplatine plus pemetrexed plus bevacizumab is een alternatief bij epitheloïd subtype. Chirurgie (pleurectomie/decortiacatie) wordt overwogen in multimodale setting bij geselecteerde patiënten.
