Abstract (original)

Outcomes for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) have improved significantly due to advances in radiation therapy technology, such as precision image guided intensity modulated radiation therapy, the emergence of novel systemic agents, and a growing understanding of disease biology and clinical behavior. Minimizing treatment-related toxicities while maintaining effective disease control is increasingly important in NPC, especially given its predilection for younger middle-aged patients with a long life expectancy after the cure of their disease.
